Spoilers: Rendezvous, Almost Thirty Years

I thought I knew her...

"...I swear to you that I am NOT betraying this country..."

Her words resound in my mind as I walk away from her...

I thought I knew Sydney...

There was a time I could trust Sydney with my life...

There was a time I that I knew for certain when I placed my life into her hands, I would come back from the danger we place ourselves in...

There was a time I could trust her to watch my back as I watched her back...

Now I am not so sure...

"...I swear to you that I am NOT betraying this country..."

Aren't you, Sydney? Aren't you betraying our country?

I once said something to her about how we kill ourselves to do the right thing but the wrong people just keep coming back....

Now it looks like my own partner is ONE of these people!

"...I swear to you that I am NOT betraying this country..."

Without thinking I drive to SD-6, and entered the building, not realizing what I am doing until I am standing outside of Security Section.

"...I swear to you that I am NOT betraying this country..."

But she IS betraying this country and it's my job, my responsibility to report her activities to Security Section so that they can find out how much damage has been done...

So why am I so reluctant to open the door and go inside of this office?

"...I swear to you that I am NOT betraying this country..."

Before I realized it, the door opens and out walks the head of Security Section...

"Can I do something for you, Agent Dixon?"

My mouth is dry and I can't seem to breathe as I reach my decision...

"No, sir. I just made a wrong turn somewhere," I replied with a nervous laugh, "I've been a little preoccupied with my case work. Sorry to have bothered you."

I quickly turn and walk away from him, immediately feeling as though I have just betrayed my country...

And even though I feel the guilt about not reporting Sydney's activities, I just can't bring myself to betray a friend....

Not yet anyway...
